2013 Acadia a Hot Seller as GMC February Sales Grow
Fri, Mar 1 2013
DETROIT – GMC’s February retail sales were the best since 2007 and grew 14 percent year over year, continuing the momentum of January gains. February total sales were also the brand’s best since 2007, and were up 10 percent year over year.
Dealers are now getting a steady supply of the new 2013 Acadia crossover SUV, which was recently redesigned with advanced technologies and safety features. With retail sales up 5 percent year over year, Acadias are staying on lots for an average of just 15 days, about four times less than the segment average, according to J.D. Power PIN data.
“We’re selling every Acadia as soon as it arrives,” said Josh Ferraez, sales manager at Green Brook Buick GMC in Green Brook, N.J. “We have three Denali models coming in today and they’ll all be gone within three days. Our customers love the luxury features that they’re getting for the money.”
In addition to customers trading in vehicles from brands like Acura and Lexus, Ferraez says he’s seeing many Acadia owners returning for the redesigned model. “They’re happy to see the right things have been updated, while the overall character of the vehicle remains.”
GMC’s small SUV, the Terrain, continues to attract new customers as well, with one in two coming from outside a General Motors’ brand. With retail sales up 20 percent year over year and total sales up 21 percent, Terrain had its best February ever for retail and total sales and its second-best retail sales month on record.
Sierra full-size pickup sales, including 1500, 2500HD and 3500HD models, were the best since 2008, in both retail and total sales. That growth – 28 percent retail and 25 percent total year over year – was aided by Pro Grade Protection, introduced on Feb. 1 for all Sierra 1500 models. February retail sales of the Sierra 1500 were up 33 percent year over year.
Pro Grade Performance was extended today, and now comes with every 2013 Sierra sold through April 30. In addition to a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, Pro Grade Protection includes two years or 24,000 miles – whichever comes first – of standard scheduled maintenance.
Coverage is included in the price of the vehicle. Pro Grade Protection includes regularly scheduled oil changes, oil filter replacements, tire rotations and multi-point vehicle inspections. Customers are eligible whether they lease or purchase and the coverage is completely transferable between owners. See full details of the program here.
