DETROIT – GMC closed out the 2013 calendar year with 450,901 total U.S. sales, up 9 percent over 2012. With retail sales up 12 percent, the brand marked its fourth consecutive year of sales increases and its highest sales in six years.

“Last summer we launched the all-new 2014 Sierra, our most powerful, most advanced and most refined light-duty truck ever,” said Brian Sweeney, vice president of GMC Sales and Service. “2014 is going to be another exciting year as we roll out more Professional Grade vehicles with the 2015 Sierra HD and new Yukon/Yukon XL.”

In December, the all-new Sierra 1500 had its best retail month – sales to individual customers – since arriving at dealers in June, with 12,035 deliveries. Overall, the Sierra line had its best retail and total sales year since 2007, gaining 20 and 17 percent, respectively.

Marking its best sales year ever, the refreshed-for-2013 Acadia midsize crossover increased retail sales by 18 percent over 2012. Additionally, it had its best retail December since 2010, gaining 53 percent year over year and marking its third straight month of gains.

Additionally, the GMC Terrain small SUV delivered its best retail and total sales year ever, growing 11 percent and 2 percent year over year.

GMC has manufactured trucks since 1902, with innovation and engineering excellence built into all GMC vehicles.  The brand is evolving to offer more fuel-efficient trucks and crossovers, including the Terrain small SUV and Acadia crossover. GMC’s highest-volume vehicle, the Sierra pickup, is the most powerful light duty pickup on the market, and the first full-size pickup to receive the highest possible five-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration changed its New Car Assessment Program for the 2011 model year.
