GMC Hands Off Keys to a 2014 Acadia on TODAY Show

DETROIT – As part of GMC’s partnership with USA Network’s Characters Unite public service campaign, GMC Director of Advertising and Sales Promotion Sandra Moore appeared Wednesday on the Today Show and presented a 2014 GMC Acadia to the mother of a 13-year-old boy mentored by Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb.
The story of Tyson Wheelock is part of the "NFL Characters Unite," a documentary premiering on USA on Friday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. EST/6 p.m. CST.
Tyson’s story is an all-too-common one about a boy facing bullies in and out of school who pressure him into fighting with other kids. He lacks the courage and leadership to make the right choices. Once facing a similar path, Cobb urges Tyson to become his own person and lead a team of volunteers during a local Habitat for Humanity home build. From there, an ongoing relationship develops to boost Tyson’s self-esteem. He learns that being a leader and not giving into bullies is the right course to his achieving his dreams.
NFL Characters Unite, presented by GMC, profiles NFL stars as they share deeply personal stories of overcoming prejudice, bullying, and discrimination, with the goal of helping young people facing similar challenges. Through meaningful conversations and unique one-on-one confidence building activities, the NFL leaders, both on and off the field, open lines of communication, instill courage and help the kids they meet realize that they, too, can achieve greatness and should "Never Say Never" to their dreams.
“On behalf of GMC partnership with USA Network and Characters Unite, we’d like to provide Nicole with her own Never Say Never moment,” said Moore. “I’m thrilled to hand off these keys to a 2014 GMC Acadia that is now yours. We hope this will help you continue to persevere and strive to achieve the best for your family.”
