DETROIT – The Chevrolet Malibu, Suburban (tie), and Silverado HD ranked highest in the Midsize Car, Large SUV and Large Heavy Duty Pickup segments in the 2014 J.D. Power Initial Quality StudySM. This is the second year in a row that Silverado HD leads in its segment.
In addition, Chevrolet had three vehicles that finished in the top three of their respective segments, including Camaro in Midsize Sporty, Equinox in Compact SUV, and Tahoe in Large SUV.
“Our primary focus at Chevrolet is on the customer, and building quality products is top priority for keeping that focus,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet. “Taking high honors in quality studies like this is great reinforcement to show we are doing just that.”
The 2014 IQS is based on responses from more than 86,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2014 model year vehicles surveyed at 90 days of ownership. The 2014 study is the second year for the study’s redesigned format and provides manufacturers with information they can use to quickly identify problems and drive improvement.
For the 2014 model year, 80 percent of Chevrolet models are either all new or have been significantly overhauled within the past three years, making it one of the industry’s freshest lineups.
Founded in 1911 in Detroit, Chevrolet is now one of the world’s largest car brands, doing business in more than 140 countries and selling more than 4.9 million cars and trucks a year.
