GM has once again received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2014 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. GM joins the ranks of 304 major U.S. businesses which also earned top marks this year.
“Achieving a truly diverse workforce is an ongoing process. A corporation must constantly evolve its hiring, training and policies to align its employee base with its customer base,” stated GM Chief Diversity Officer Ken Barrett. “This recognition from HRC is proof of our continued commitment to equality for our LGBT employees and is integral to creating a world-class organization.”
The 2014 CEI rated 934 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. GM’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria resulting in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.
