Chevrolet-Buick-GMC-Cadillac September Sales

Oshawa, Ontario (October 2, 2012) Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac sales were up by 12 per cent in September 2012 driven by strong sales of mini, small and compact cars and compact MPVs and crossovers from the company’s new and expanded vehicle line-up.  Dealers reported 18,756 deliveries in September.

Total sales for Chevrolet were up 13 per cent for the month with a 23 per cent increase in car sales and a 6 per cent increase in truck sales.  The Chevrolet Cruze continues to be GM’s best-selling passenger car with an increase of 36 per cent for the month. With the addition of the all-new Spark to the mini-car segment, Chevrolet is the only brand with vehicles offered in every market segment.

For the month of September, Buick saw gains of 31 per cent over the same period in 2011 driven by the success of the new Buick Verano and the Enclave.  For the first three quarters of the year, Buick sales continued to grow remarkably with an increase of 14 per cent over the first three quarters of 2011.

For the month of September, GMC sales were up 10 per cent, driven by sales of the GMC Terrain and Acadia, along with growth in sales of the Sierra Crew Cabs.

"This month customers began experiencing the all-new, Oshawa-built, 2013 Cadillac XTS luxury sedan, the most technologically advanced production car in Cadillac’s history,” said Marc Comeau, vice-president of sales, service and marketing at GM of Canada. “The XTS will soon be joined by the all new ATS, rounding out the Cadillac line up along with the CTS, SRX and Escalade, attracting a new generation of luxury customers.”

September 2012 Key Facts and Brand Results

  • Chevrolet Crossovers and MPVs posted strong gains for the month.  Both Consumers Digest Best Buys, Equinox was up 3 per cent and Traverse was up 32 per cent.  The Parent Tested Parent Approved Orlando contributed to a strong month with solid performance.
  • The Buick Enclave, 2012 Consumer’s Digest Best Buy award winner, had an impressive sales increase of 37 per cent
  • GMC's Consumers Digest Best Buy crossovers had a strong month, with Terrain up 44 per cent over last year

Total GM sales were up 12 per cent compared to last September.
