  • Chevrolet continues record-breaking sales with 7,360 vehicles in November 2012
  • The fourth time Chevrolet has broken its own record in 2012
  • Received two TAQA awards in the Thailand International Motor Expo 2012

Bangkok, THAILAND: Chevrolet Sales Thailand (Chevrolet) has, for the fourth time in 2012, set a new all-time monthly sales record in November 2012, with a total sale of 7,360 units. The previous record was set in August 2012.

This represents an increase of 212 percent compared to the same month in November 2011. In year-to-date (YTD) terms, it represents a growth of 146 percent, compared with the same period (January – November) in 2011. The Colorado was the best-selling model, with 2,986 units sold in November 2012, a five percent increase over the previous month. The Trailblazer, made further inroads into the SUV-D segment, with a total of 883 units sold, representing a 12 percent increase over the previous month.

“The Colorado continues to lead Chevrolet sales in the domestic market with a 6.4 percent segment share. It is the most successful new pick-up in the Thai market, winning more market share than any other new model introduction this year,” Mr. Martin Apfel, President, General Motors Thailand/SEA and Chevrolet Sales Thailand, said during Chevrolet’s presentation at the recent Thailand International Motor Expo 2012.

The other model that continued to do well was the Sonic – a total of 2,019 were driven out of Chevrolet showrooms in November 2012. Launched in July this year, Chevrolet’s newest model in the small-car segment has continued to capture the hearts and minds of motorists, not just in Thailand, but around the world. Its edgy and modern design, coupled with strong ride and handling characteristics and a quiet and well-insulated interior have clearly positioned the Sonic as one of the favourites among those shopping for a sub-compact.

The Captiva also continued to push its way into its segment with strong market share, and recorded a 14 percent increase in sales in November 2012, despite the introduction of a new competing model in the market.

Across the Southeast Asian (SEA) region, Chevrolet continued to carve a bigger niche for itself, with total sales of 8,493 in November, representing a three percent market share in the region. In its sustained efforts to stamp a bigger footprint across the region, Chevrolet will be launching one of the largest dealerships in the region in Laos in December. It will also be launching the all-new Sonic and Orlando in Malaysia to improve its range of products in the market.

Chevrolet’s growth in 2012, especially in Thailand with a YTD sales of 67,012 units, is not just due to its line-up of strong new and fresh products alone. Its products have been backed by dedicated service, for which it has won two recognitions from J.D. Power for excellent customer and sales satisfaction index in 2012.

Chevrolet also received two awards at the recent Motor Expo 2012, Thailand Automotive Quality Awards (TAQA). The awards, a culmination of customer satisfaction surveys initiated in 2002 by Customs Asia, Thailand Productivity Institute, Manager ASTV newspaper and the organizer of the Thailand International Motor Expo, recognized Chevrolet for Outstanding Image in two categories – ‘Fun to Drive’ and ‘Excellent Driving Control’.

The awards recognize Chevrolet’s distinctive European driving dynamics and commitment to build vehicles with precision handling and performance.

“In total, we have won four awards this year in recognition of our excellence in customer care and the quality of our products,” said Mr. Antonio Zara, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, GM Thailand/SEA and Chevrolet Sales Thailand.

“This is in addition to four record-breaking months in 2012. We are definitely looking forward to the benefit of the strong presence of our cars at the Motor Expo and ending the year full speed on sales,” Zara added.

Chevrolet showcased the Spin show vehicle, a compact multipurpose vehicle (MPV), at the Motor Expo 2012. It is the first time the Spin has been shown in Thailand and, based on the response from visitors at Chevrolet’s booth, the automaker expects strong sales when the Spin is launched in 2013.

In conjunction with the Motor Expo 2012, Chevrolet has launched a special-edition Cruze. Available only for the 1.8L LTZ, the limited-edition Cruze features a new metallic-white finish, and will cost an additional THB 15,000. Chevrolet is also offering its customers a low down-payment starting at nine percent, and a long installment period of up to 84 months, including free first-class insurance for one year, for all models.

Chevrolet’s booth is located at A06. The 29th Thailand International Motor Expo 2012 is held at Impact Challenger, Muang Thong Thani, and runs from November 29 – December 10, 2012.
