Chevrolet Delivers All-time Sales Record for Thailand
Thu, Sep 6 2012
- Highest monthly sales performance in history of Chevrolet Thailand attributed to August sales volume of 7,331 vehicles
- Thai market growth fueled by Colorado and new product offensive of Sonic sedan and Trailblazer SUV
- Total vehicle sales for Chevrolet in the SEA markets was 8,762 vehicles in August, a 107% increase when compared to 2011 during the same period
Bangkok, Thailand - Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) recorded its highest ever sales in the history of the company in the month of august with 7,331 vehicles sold, an all-time record bringing it to a Year-to-Date (YTD) total of 45,768 vehicles; the YTD total represents a 118 % growth when compared to the same period in 2011.
With the launch of two new models, the Chevrolet Sonic sedan and the Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV, the company has expanded its product portfolio and provides a wider range of options for customers. Chevrolet’s August sales performance of 7,331 vehicles is the best mark for the global automaker since it stepped up its presence in Thailand nearly 20 years ago. The Chevrolet portfolio and sales volume for 2012 was boosted with exciting new products contributing to Chevrolet’s upward trend. The previous monthly record for this year was 6,301 vehicles in March.
Chevrolet is riding a wave of momentum as August sales performance represents a 19% increase over July this year. Martin Apfel, President of GM Thailand/SEA and Chevrolet Sales Thailand said, “This is our third month of record-breaking performances. However, Chevrolet will not rest on our laurels, we prefer to have a long-term perspective though we are enjoying a great response from our customers.
“Strong sales is a reflection of attractive products and remarkable customer care, both of which Chevrolet has always paid special attention to. Chevrolet’s manufacturing, sales and customer care teams are doing a great job, which is why you see the Chevrolet brand beating tough competition in CSI and SSI ratings done by J.D. Power.” added Mr Apfel, as he referred to Chevrolet earning No.2 rankings in the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2012 Thailand Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) and Customer Satisfaction Index (CS) studies announced last earlier. Chevrolet sold 3,199 Colorados in August 2012, followed by the Trailblazer and the Captiva which sold 1,307 and 1,034 units respectively.
“The Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV and the Sonic sedan were recently launched in July and August respectively, and both Chevrolet products have shown excellent customer response with strong indications for positive sales results.” added Antonio Zara, Vice President for GM Thailand/SEA and Chevrolet Sales Thailand.
The Rayong-based GM Thailand facility recently churned out the first Chevrolet Sonic hatchback which is expected to receive a popular response from Chevrolet’s growing customer-base in the Thai and regional markets; meanwhile after a successful introduction to the Thai domestic SUV market, the Chevrolet Trailblazer sport-utility is currently being billed as the next flagship product – after the Colorado pickup.
Total vehicle sales for Chevrolet in the SEA markets was 8,762 vehicles in August, a 107% increase when compared to the same month last year; while the YTD or eight-month total of 56,273 vehicles represents a 114% percent increase when compared to the same period last year.
