Chevrolet Spin contributes to the sales performances of the brand in ASEAN

- Chevrolet sold 6,987 vehicles in Southeast Asia in July 2013
- The new Spin continues to lead sales in Indonesia and hits the showrooms in Thailand
- Chevrolet in Thailand sees an increase in sales across segment line-up compared to last month despite tough market conditions
BANGKOK, THAILAND – General Motors posted sales of 6,987 vehicles throughout the ASEAN region in July 2013, benefiting from the excellent start of the new Chevrolet Spin in Indonesia and Thailand.
In Indonesia, the aggressive rollout of the all new Spin continued to break sales records with 1,494 units sold in July, bringing their total monthly sales to 1,858 units sold across all vehicle lines, a 5.5 percent increase over June, and a YOY increase of 361%. That makes July a new all-time sales record for Chevrolet in Indonesia.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer continues to lead record-breaking sales results for Chevrolet Philippines, with 201 units sold of the popular SUV in July. The company sold a total of 452 units, a 41 percent growth over July 2012. In other markets, Malaysia posted 177 units, Singapore posted 36 units, and other markets across the ASEAN region posted combined sales of 136 units.
In Thailand, Chevrolet sold a total of 4,181 units in July, a three percent increase over June. Sales of the Colorado truck continued to lead sales with 1,597 units sold during the month. The newest addition to Chevrolet’s product line-up, the all new Spin, also continues to gain momentum since its launch in June, with 171 units sold in July.
The popular and trendy Chevrolet Sonic saw an increase in sales in July compared to the previous month, selling 701 units. Additional Chevrolet models saw steady results in July 2013, including an increase in sales of the Captiva, (702 units); growth in sales of the Trailblazer (696 units); the Cruze, (294 units); and the Aveo (20 units).
"Chevrolet is experiencing stable growth across the region," said Mr. Gustavo Colossi, Chevrolet Sales Thailand’s and GM Southeast Asia Operations’ Vice-President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales. "Our comprehensive product line-up is seeing positive responses with some modest sales records throughout the region. These are encouraging signs as we work towards consolidating our position in Thailand and across ASEAN."
Chevrolet’s latest variant of the Sonic, featuring the new Chevrolet My-Link system and the first in its segment to offer E85 capability, began selling in dealer showrooms in July.
