BANGKOK, 6 May 2013 - Chevrolet Sales Thailand (Chevrolet) sold 22,071 vehicles in the first four months of 2013 with the sale of 4,617 vehicles in the month of April 2013, representing a firm indication that Chevrolet’s products are meeting customer expectations across various market segments.
Leading sales in April was the Colorado of which 1,856 were sold, while the Sonic's ever-increasing popularity resulted in 1,233 units being driven out of showrooms. Other models that saw healthy figures in April 2013 included the Trailblazer (548 units), Captiva (526 units), Cruze (412 units) and Aveo CNG (42 units).
Bookings for the newly-launched Spin sub-compact MPV (Multipurpose Vehicle) and Cruze E85 compact sedan continued to be encouraging. Customers can start driving their Spins home in June while delivery of the updated Cruze is expected to commence this month.
"We now have a product portfolio that caters to most major segments in the Thai market," said Chevrolet Sales Thailand’s and GM Southeast Asia Operations’ Vice-President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, Mr. Gustavo Daniel Colossi.
"All the products in our booth during the recent Motor Show - from the Colorado, Trailblazer and Captiva to the Cruze, Spin and Sonic - are available at all our dealerships nationwide," Colossi continued.
He added, "We expect our growth to continue, especially in view of our latest launches. The Spin addresses a growing market segment, while the Cruze E85 provides another exciting and cost-effective alternative to motorists who love it for its design and drivability."
To increase the availability of its products to more customers and cater to rising demand, and in line with its dealership expansion plans, Chevrolet has recently signed a new dealership agreement with Sim Auto Sure Co., Ltd. (Chevrolet Suwinthawongse). The latest dealership, Chevrolet's 97th, will serve customers in eastern Bangkok and the greater metropolitan areas. Other dealerships expected to come online soon include Chevrolet Yasothon in the Northeast region of Thailand, Chaing Mai, and additional locations in Provinces throughout the country. Chevrolet plans to have 120 dealerships in Thailand by the end of 2013.
Chevrolet's sales growth also continued across major markets in the Southeast Asian region. The automaker sold 6,170 vehicles across the region in April 2013. Markets that posted growth included Indonesia (723 units, +66 percent YTD) and Philippines (356 units, +74 percent YTD).
