· Evan Dold, Vice President Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (GPSC) to retire after 20 years of service
· John Astbury, currently Vice President Aftersales to lead GPSC
· Malcolm Gauld, currently Vice President Sales and Marketing to take on additional Aftersales responsibilities
General Motors South Africa (GMSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Astbury, currently GMSA Vice President Aftersales, to the position of GMSA Vice President Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (GPSC). John Astbury takes over from Evan Dold, currently GMSA Vice President GPSC, who will retire after 20 years of dedicated service to the company.
Dold, 62, has been with GM South Africa since 1992 and began his career within the Sales and Marketing department before being appointed to the Board of Directors of the then Delta Motor Corporation as Director of Strategic Planning and Information Technology in 1995. Dold has held his current position since 1999.
“Evan has been a great asset to the company, he has played an instrumental role in integrating GM South Africa’s supply chain activities into the global processes which has ensured better streamlining of our operations and supplier relations. We thank Evan for his great work and wish him all the best in the next chapter of his life,” said Edgar Lourencon, President and Managing Director GM Sub-Saharan Africa.
John Astbury, 53, brings with him a significant amount of experience into his new role, with 35 years of experience within the automotive sector, Astbury has held various positions within General Motors including assignments within the GMSA Manufacturing organisation since joining the company in 1995.
As a result of the above changes, Malcolm Gauld, 57, GMSA Vice President, Vehicle Sales Service and Marketing (VSSM) will take over the functional leadership of the After Sales team, with the new title of GMSA Vice President, Vehicle Sales Service and Marketing (VSSM), and will continue to report Edgar Lourencon, President and Managing Director GM Sub-Saharan Africa
Gauld joined GMSA in 1987 and held several positions in Sales and Marketing before being appointed to his current position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing in 2003.
