Across major markets in Southeast Asia, Chevrolet sold 6,657 vehicles in May 2013, with the Philippines posting record sales of 424 units and the Trailblazer leading sales with 163 units sold. In Indonesia, the base of production for the all new Chevrolet Spin, Chevrolet sold 861 units with the Spin leading growth with an impressive 496 units sold. Additional markets showing a strong performance included Malaysia (117 units) and Singapore (164 units).
“Our strong growth in Southeast Asia in May demonstrates the growing confidence customers have for the Chevrolet brand in the region,” said Martin Apfel, President of GM Southeast Asia Operations. “In addition to our record-breaking sales in the Philippines with the Trailblazer, we have expanded our dealer network in Cambodia, our new plant in Indonesia is producing the new Spin, and we continue to open new dealerships throughout Thailand.”
Chevrolet Sales Thailand (Chevrolet) sold 4,752 vehicles in May 2013, representing a three percent increase over April sales and moving in to the second quarter with a robust product line up in showrooms across the country.
The all new Spin took its place in Chevrolet showrooms in June, as well as the new E85-capable Cruze, which positions Chevrolet’s complete product portfolio to securely meet the demands of the MPV market segment, as well environmentally conscious consumers looking for alternative fuel options.
Leading sales again in May was the Colorado selling 2,125 units, followed by the Sonic’s 1,162 units. Other models that saw healthy figures in May 2013 included the Trailblazer (538 units), Captiva (479 units), Cruze (407 units) and Aveo CNG (41 units).
Chevrolet’s popular seven-seat SUV, the Trailblazer, launched the new LTZ 2WD version that hit showrooms in May. The updated model has all the functions of the top-trim 4WD version, such as the Duramax turbo-diesel engine and dynamic driving technology with brake fade assist, traction and engine control. The Trailblazer LTZ 2WD offers customers access to the premium features with the power of a 2.8 engine at a lower, competitive price.

"Our aggressive plan to expand our dealer network will bring this product line-up to new car buyers and loyal Chevrolet customers alike who are looking for vehicles to address every aspect of their lives,” he continued. “From fun family holidays at the beach or in the mountains, to urban commuting, off-road terrain driving and highway cruising, Chevrolet is designing and building cars, trucks, and SUV’s to enhance every aspect of work and family life.”
