Overview
GM’s history in Egypt began in 1927 when it established GM Near East in Alexandria. Through 1958, the wholly owned subsidiary served a large export territory in the Middle East, in addition to the Egyptian domestic market. In 1983, GM Egypt was founded and began production in 1985. GM has 31% interest and management responsibility in this joint venture company. Isuzu Motors holds 20%, and groups of Egyptian and Saudi private investors hold 33% and 16%, respectively.

- Products: Light Commercial and Medium Pickup trucks with Chevrolet & Isuzu brand names. Opel passenger cars: Corsa & Astra (CKDs from Brazil).
