GM Global Aid is an initiative of the General Motors family. As one of the world's leading corporate citizens in tranquil times, we realize that in the midst of crises, the physical and emotional needs of individuals and communities are heightened, and that a rapid response is required. By implementing GM Global Aid, General Motors increases its ability to reach out to our communities across the globe.
We're harnessing the power of the Internet to support our employees who wish to extend their personal resources to others in times of need by facilitating their ability to make a quick and secure donation online. In certain circumstances, the GM Foundation will match employee contributions to relief efforts. In those cases, the relief agencies track contributions made through this web site by workers who identify themselves as GM employees and use their work e-mail addresses.
In addition, GM Global Aid will mobilize the resources of the entire GM organization, particularly the low-interest financing capabilities of the General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) and the regional distribution expertise of our Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing (VSSM) organization.
All of these efforts will ensure that when disaster strikes anywhere in the world, GM Global Aid will respond according to the magnitude of the crisis, with special attention to regions where there is a GM presence.
How Your Donation is Put to Use
"At General Motors, our goal is to leverage the power and speed of the Internet to support our communities in times of their greatest need. This will inherently increase the amount of financial and in-kind contributions that we, the GM family, can give to those individuals who need it most," said Roderick D. Gillum, Vice President for Corporate Relations, General Motors Corporation, and Chairman, GM Foundation.
