Restrictions on Giving
Contributions are only made to organizations with verifiable IRS 501 (c)(3) status. GM no longer accepts paper requests. The online application form must be used to submit a request.
GM does not support organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, gender, age, veteran status, physical challenge or national origin. In addition, contributions generally are not provided to:
- Individuals
- Religious organizations
- Political parties or candidates
- U.S. hospitals and health care institutions (general operating support)
- Capital campaigns
- Endowment funds
- Conferences, workshops or seminars not directly related to GM's business interests
GM and the GM Foundation believe that giving to capital programs and endowment campaigns does not appropriately utilize the Corporation's resources.
GM and GM Foundation generally do not support multi-year grants; only the first year of multi-year requests will be considered and subsequent years will be evaluated annually for future support.
