National Safety Council Partners with GM to Create Teen Driving Safety Leadership Awards
Itasca, IL (July 21, 2008) —The National Safety Council is launching a new Teen Driving Safety Leadership Awards program sponsored by General Motors (GM). The program will recognize organizations and individuals who have made exceptional contributions to reducing the rate of accidental injuries and death among teen drivers. The Council will present at least three Teen Driving Safety Leadership Awards annually, beginning at the 2009 National Safety Congress in Orlando, Fla. in October, 2009.

U.S. House Majority Leader Recognizes Safe Kids USA and General Motors for Checking One Million Car Seats
WASHINGTON D.C. (July 3, 2008) — General Motors was recognized in Congress when the House Majority Leader, Maryland Congressman Steny Hoyer made the following statement in the Congressional Record:
Mr. HOYER: Madam Speaker, I rise today to recognize an important milestone in child safety: Safe Kids USA's inspection of more than one million car seats. Since 1996, Safe Kids USA, a member of Safe Kids Worldwide, has partnered with General Motors to address one of the Nation's most significant public health issues: Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 2 to 14 and the leading cause of injury-related death for children under age 2.

NTSB Chairman Commends Safe Kids, General Motors for One Million Car Seats Checked

WASHINGTON D.C. (June 26, 2008) — National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Mark V. Rosenker today honored SAFE KIDS Worldwide and General Motors Corporation with its Safety Leadership Award for their efforts to ensure the proper installation of more than one million child restraint systems since the program began in 1997.
