Slovak Republic - History

Slovak Republic

Opel entered the Slovak market in January 1991 as the first official importer of foreign cars into the Slovak Republic. In April 2005 the representative office was transformed to a branch office of GM Southeast Europe, which took over all of the duties of the national office representing the Opel and Chevrolet brands in Slovakia. The customers can also purchase Saab models at selected dealerships, and GM began selling the Chevrolet models in mid-2004.

GM sources a large amount of the parts it requires for the Opel production plants from Slovak suppliers - last year the value of these purchases totalled EUR 31 million
