GM Announces Establishment of China Science Lab

Will Contribute to Technological Innovation

SHANGHAI (September 24, 2009) — General Motors Company announced today the establishment of its China Science Lab in Shanghai.  The unique facility will carry out important research projects in a number of automotive-related fields for General Motors.  As the first major science lab established by a global automaker in China, it will contribute to technological innovation, both domestically and on a worldwide basis.

GM Desert Proving Ground-Yuma Officially Open For Business

Ribbon Cutting Marks Unprecedented Cooperation between Army and GM

YUMA, AZ (July 24, 2009) — General Motors and the U.S. Army officially opened GM’s new test facility in the southwest on the Army’s Yuma Proving Ground. The ceremony marked the end of most construction activity and the beginning of a cooperative arrangement hammered out 2 years ago. The agreement will provide GM with a suitable test facility following the closing of their long standing Mesa Proving Ground.

DETROIT (January 20, 2009) — Edward T. Welburn, GM's Vice President of Global Design, will receive the Distinguished Service Citation from the Automotive Hall of Fame, January 25, at the National Automobile Dealers Association meeting in New Orleans. With this prestigious Distinguished Service Citation, the Automotive Hall of Fame recognizes an individual's significant contribution to the auto industry.

Creative Young Engineers Selected to Participate in NAE's 2008 U.S. Frontiers of Engineering Symposium

WASHINGTON (July 17, 2008) — Eighty-two of the nation's brightest young engineers have been selected to take part in the National Academy of Engineering's (NAE) 14th annual U.S. Frontiers of Engineering symposium.  The 2½-day event will bring together engineers ages 30 to 45 who are performing exceptional engineering research and technical work in a variety of disciplines.  The participants -- from industry, academia, and government -- were nominated by fellow engineers or organizations and chosen from more than 230 applicants.
