Crafty Clay to Design Your Own Vehicle

We tried this recipe for craft clay to make our own vehicle, much like the clay modelers do at GM Design. This clay is stiff enough to make fine, detailed features. Try this recipe for your next design creation!

Note: Please have an adult with you because you need to use a stove to heat the ingredients!

What you will need:

1 cup cornstarch
1 1/4 cups cold water
2 cups baking soda

How to make it:

  1. Combine cornstarch and baking soda in a small saucepan.
  2. Add water and stir until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Heat mixture for five minutes over medium heat. Stir until it begins to thicken and turns to dough.
  4. Remove dough from saucepan and allow it to cool.
  5. Knead dough two to three minutes. Let finished creations air-dry until hard.

Tips and ideas:

  • Add color to your clay by mixing in 7-10 drops of food coloring before cooking.
  • Knead in 1 teaspoon of fine glitter to make your clay sculptures sparkle.
