“Recognition from respected third-party organizations validates our momentum with customers, and we look forward to building on that success at GMC,” said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president of Buick and GMC, who accepted the awards.
The awards are:
2014 Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Award: GMC – Most Refined Brand
Refinement is a key attribute of the GMC brand, and it was recognized in the 2014 Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards.
Arthur Henry, senior analyst for Kelley Blue Book said: “GMC wins its first-ever Brand Image Award in 2014 for Most Refined Brand, as new-car shoppers rated it very highly for comfort, interior layout and prestige/sophistication. The Denali trims also helped GMC's perception ratings in winning this award.”
Brand Image Award winners are based on Kelley Blue Book’s annual new-car buyer perception data. The awards recognize automakers’ outstanding achievements in creating and maintaining brand attributes that capture the attention and enthusiasm of the new-vehicle buying public.
“Refinement is one of the elements that sets GMC apart from our competitors, so we appreciate receiving this award from KBB.com,” said Aldred.
AutoTrader.com 2014 Must Test Drive: 2015 GMC Canyon
The all-new 2015 Canyon midsize truck will redefine the segment when it goes on sale this fall, and that’s why AutoTrader.com calls it a 2014 Must Test Drive.
Brian Moody, site editor of AutoTrader.com said: "GMC's new midsize Canyon challenges the notion that only full-size pickups can handle serious work. With a towing capacity of just under 7,000 lbs, the Canyon gets the job done. This truck is a baby Sierra in every way, including lots of comfort and tech features. The interior is nicer than any compact or midsize truck we've seen, plus there's tons of useful tech offered like 4G LTE connectivity with built in Wi-Fi hotspot, IntelliLink, OnStar, navigation and USB ports. The bottom line is the new GMC Canyon provides an unmatched combination of tough, tech and comfort, and that's exactly why it's on our Must Test Drive list."
Beginning with the top 100 most popular vehicles on AutoTrader.com, the editorial team narrowed the list to about 50 cars and 30 trucks, vans and SUVs and voted. In addition to other technical criteria, nominees must excel in four key attributes including value, comfort, performance and style. For the vehicle to win, editors must determine that it offers something unexpected, and shoppers need to drive it to fully appreciate it.
“The 2015 Canyon, alongside the Sierra light- and heavy-duty pickups, completes GMC’s three-truck strategy,” said Aldred. “We are giving customers the choice of the right size truck to meet their needs and we are looking forward to redefining the midsize truck segment when we launch the Canyon later this year.”
GMC Acadia is a 2014 Most Popular on Edmunds.com Large Crossover SUV
Refreshed for 2013, the GMC Acadia crossover marked its best sales year ever last year. Now it has been named a 2014 Most Popular on Edmunds.com Large Crossover SUV.
Edmunds.com said: “A vehicular jack-of-all-trades, the 2014 GMC Acadia can handle it all. GMC's family hauler is ideal for transporting your big brood to the lake or hauling a full load of provisions away from your local big-box store. In this highly competitive segment, the Acadia stands as one of the best picks.”
The Most Popular on Edmunds.com awards were determined by finding the three models in each of 23 vehicle segments that had the highest total monthly car-shopper consideration in calendar year 2013. “Consideration” means the number of unique visitors during a calendar month to the research and inventory pages on Edmunds.com desktop site for each new model. These pages include: model year detail pages, reviews, build and price tools and new car inventory.
Because Edmunds measures consideration by looking at each new vehicle make/model without regard to model year, since most models had more than one model year on sale in 2013, the Most Popular on Edmunds.com award is not associated with a specific model year.
GMC has manufactured trucks since 1902, with innovation and engineering excellence built into all GMC vehicles. The brand is evolving to offer more fuel-efficient trucks and crossovers, including the Terrain small SUV and Acadia crossover. GMC’s highest-volume vehicle, the Sierra pickup, is the most fuel-efficient V-8 light duty pickup truck on the market, and the first full-size pickup to receive the highest possible five-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration changed its New Car Assessment Program for the 2011 model year.
