Crossovers Play Big Role in Buick’s Strong September

Encore retail sales up 38 percent, Enclave has best September in three years

DETROIT – Buick posted its best September retail sales results since 2007 with retail sales up 6 percent and total sales up 12 percent year over year led by the Encore and Enclave crossovers.

Combined, the Encore and Enclave accounted for roughly half of Buick’s sales to individual customers and total sales in September. The Encore has led the small SUV segment in sales for six consecutive months. Retail deliveries were up 38 percent year over year, marking the ninth consecutive month of retail sales gains. Total Encore sales thus far in 2014 are up 59 percent compared to the same period in 2013.

Retail sales of the three-row Enclave rose 21 percent year over year, marking the Enclave’s best September result in three years.

“Despite the difference in size, both Encore and Enclave deliver the core attributes – style, comfort, quality and value – customers expect in a modern Buick,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of marketing for Buick. “Thanks to the success of our ‘Experience the New Buick’ campaign, consumers continue to discover these qualities are available in a Buick that truly fits their needs.”

Buick sedan sales also rose in September. The Verano’s total sales increased 6 percent over last Septembers and sales of the redesigned Regal increased 5 percent year over year, marking the 12th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. Thus far in 2014, Regal sales have increased 32 percent over 2013.
