We house 33MW of solar power at seven facilities and host two of the five largest rooftop solar arrays in the world. Our Zaragoza, Spain assembly plant was the world’s largest industrial rooftop solar installation until 2012.
While we have made great strides in our quest to build affordable vehicles that run on electricity, it’s only prudent that we come up with ways to harness our most abundant resource, and we feel we are taking steps toward that goal every day. For instance, the largest rooftop solar array in the world can be found on top of our plant in Zaragoza, Spain. It puts up to 12 megawatts of energy back into the plant, significantly reducing the need for energy found in fossil fuels.
From a dealer perspective, we recently announced Green Zones – a project aimed at putting solar canopies on the grounds of our dealerships to allow electric vehicle owners a place to charge their vehicles.
We’re looking into all aspects of the business for ways to put solar energy to good use, and we believe we are on the right track.
