A century of innovation

1939
A roadmap to the future

In 1939, our visionary “Futurama” exhibit at the New York World’s Fair heavily influenced the development of the Interstate Highway System.

1955
Cure, accelerated

In 1955, we helped develop Centri-Filmer, a vaccine purifying machine that made large-scale manufacturing of the Salk polio vaccine possible.

1969
Becoming moonbound

In 1969, we helped NASA get the first humans to land on the moon with the Apollo 11 mission. We manufactured, tested, and integrated the inertial guidance and navigation system for the entire Apollo Moon program.

1997
Impact defined

In 1997, our Hybrid III crash test dummies were declared the official standard for frontal impact testing by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

1977
An emissions breakthrough

In 1977, our experiments showed how unleaded gasoline would eliminate lead poisoning of the catalyst in vehicles. This led to us becoming the first automaker to offer cars that ran on unleaded gasoline, a major breakthrough in reducing vehicle exhaust emissions.

2011
Mission-critical robotics

In 2011, we partnered with NASA to create Robonaut 2, the first humanoid robot sent into space to assist astronauts as they work and explore.

2020
A COVID lifeline

In 2020, we mobilized our manufacturing ingenuity to produce and equip frontline healthcare professionals with lifesaving critical care ventilators.
