If you’re an engineer or designer built to challenge the limits of automotive excellence, you’ve come to the right place.
At GM, we thrive at the intersection of design and engineering, creating simplicity from complexity to make vehicles that customers are proud to own and love to drive. From becoming the first automotive manufacturer to standardize the automotive design process in product development to introducing innovations like Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology3 and Google Built-in4, we’ve always designed our vehicles with technical expertise to make driving smarter, safer, and more enjoyable.
For over a century, General Motors (GM) has been at the forefront of automotive engineering. From introducing the first mass-produced turbocharged car to pioneering the modern electric vehicle, electric pickup, and in-car touchscreen, GM has consistently led with bold ideas and real impact. We engineer the one for every drive and will continue to drive automotive innovation for generations to come. It’s part of our DNA.
GM’s design and engineering teams work together to blend creativity with technology. Concepts are developed, tested, and refined before being brought to life by manufacturing teams in state-of-the-art facilities.
GM’s new Design West facility, along with its predecessor, the Saarinen Building, are testaments to the creative forces that have defined GM’s design ethos since its founding. Design West’s large, open spaces allow for teams to congregate around the design process.
GM offers advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like Super Cruise, which provide hands-free driver assistance3 on compatible roads but still require the driver to stay attentive. Super Cruise is powered by a Unified Lateral Controller — a self-learning, modular software system that uses real-time data and machine learning to manage lane centering, smooth lane changes, and adaptive steering.
