Zero crashes, zero emissions, zero congestion. Right now, it’s our vision for the future, but we have it in our sights. Our teams bring their technological, engineering, and design expertise to move us closer every day.
Safety or driver assistance features are no substitute for the driver’s responsibility to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. The driver should remain attentive to traffic, surroundings and road conditions at all times. Visibility, weather, and road conditions may affect feature performance. Read the vehicle owner’s manual for more important feature limitations and information.
Our commitment to EVs is a critical part of our business growth strategy - and a key driver of reducing tailpipe emissions.

Learn moreZero zero zero is GM’s bold vision for the future: zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. We’re rethinking the driving experience for everyone: making roads safer, reducing our impact on the planet, and helping people move more freely through smarter design and technology. We’re creating life-changing impact for communities globally.
At GM, sustainability is core to our vision of zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. We’ve pledged to achieve carbon neutrality in global products and operations by 2040, source 100% renewable electricity across GM sites by 2035, and reduce water intensity by 35% by 2035. At GM, we’re driving progress through innovation, electrification, and a commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
General Motors develops safety tech in partnership with research institutions. These innovations have substantially helped to increase safety measures, including reducing backing crashes by 84%, rear-end crashes by 39%, and front pedestrian crashes by 25%11.
As one of the the largest automotive manufacturer in the U.S., GM plays an integral role in the American economy by generating jobs, spurring investment, and driving American GDP. General Motors employs over 90,000 workers in the USA and paid our USA team a collective $11.7 billion in taxable wages in 202412. For every job we create, we also indirectly impact thousands of additional jobs nationwide, including suppliers, dealers, and other collaborators.
GM prioritizes sustainability across its vehicles, materials, and manufacturing processes. We have a detailed sustainability strategy to guide our decision making and support our goal for an all-electric, carbon-neutral future.
Net zero emissions means reducing greenhouse gases as much as possible, then balancing any remaining emissions by removing them from the atmosphere. These gases — often produced by activities like burning fossil fuels — trap heat and contribute to global warming. At GM, we’re working toward no net increase in greenhouse gases as part of our broader commitment to zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion.
Net zero emissions can be achieved by cutting emissions from operations and vehicles while investing in renewable energy and carbon removal technologies. GM is committed to reducing our overall carbon footprint and supporting a zero emissions future.
